Spring and Summer Crochet Project 2026

These few weeks have been spent researching the headband!

Materials:

  1. Best yarns to use is cotton, cotton linen, bamboo. Best at absorbing water/sweat and quickly drying.

  2. Soft to the touch with crocheting and knitting. Holds shape really well.

  3. Crochet rectangle pieces width wise.

  4. Used 3.75 - 4.0 mm Crochet hooks

  5. Amazon pack of 12 plastic headbands

  6. Scissors

  7. Darning needles to weave in yarn ends.

  8. Glue for attaching flatback gems and pearls

  9. Bows - knitted on 20 peg circular knitting machine (Sentro, Addi)

  10. Crochet Flowers - patterns from "Pinterest"

Directions

Chain 57-58 stitches to match the headband's length. I chose different crochet stitch patterns for each rectangle, including the single crochet waistcoat pattern, tried out new patterns, and designed a pattern as follows: R1: Make 1 single crochet in each chain across the row, chain 1, and turn. R2: Make 1 half double crochet in the front loop only of each stitch across the row, chain 1, and turn. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the rectangle is long enough to cover the headband. Fold the rectangle in half lengthwise. Close the side of the rectangle and one end, leaving the other side open to slide the headband in. After covering, crochet or sew the opposite end of the tube closed. Finally, unleash your creativity in decorating your headband!
